If case you have missed Part One and Part Two of my vacation…
But here is the next part: it is my Kiev vacation. Kiev was a very important part of the trip, not only because it is the capital of Ukraine, but also because my late father was from the suburbs of Kiev and my sister and I have NEVER visited his childhood places before. My dad passed away when we were very little, and we lost the connection to his part of the family. It is a very long, sad and not very clear story, which I will not bring up in my blog probably ever. But the info above will help to paint some emotions to the photos… And of course I am not sure if I ever will visit that tiny, raw and beautiful village so I wanted to bring my kids and husband with me.
Just to be double-triple clear: I am a city girl, as city girl as it gets. I am not used to any sites like that!! And it was so much more special to me and my heart to know that my Dad was here when he was a kid!
The garden next to the house. And my brother’s back 🙂
Rukominik. Hand washing device 🙂
I love this photo. This is my Dad’s first cousin twice removed.
My city girl (an American girl, which is even more than just a city girl!) peeling potatoes… 🙂 First time ever in her life.
Yes, peeling potatoes. Still…
This photo collage has my relatives from my Dad’s side
This is the corner of the room, where my Dad spent some of his childhood years.
The kids (all 3 of them) found something to do 🙂
AN intense conversation…
And then we all went for a long walk around the village (photos to come in a separate post). Before we left we checked the mailbox. It was empty… seems like for years!
And I have so many more photos… Part 4 will be posted sometime soon. For now I hope you enjoyed this very special photo-report of mine 🙂 And I am very grateful to get such a great response to my blogging. You help my blog to stay alive! Thank you, friends!
