Your Orlando Photographer Partners To Assist Crossroads Corral
The final aspect of our annual Mother’s Day Charity event, read about it here, involves the recipient of our community’s generosity. Your Orlando Photographer loves to support groups that aid women, especially around Mother’s Day, as well as form new relationships with organizations and business owners. We were able to do both with the discovery of Crossroads Corral! We learned of them through our businesswoman centered social group, FemCity Orlando. Being a new and small organization, we knew that any money we were able to raise would go directly to programs and make a huge difference!
Once I learned horses were involved, I was smitten by this group and happily agreed to partner with them for this year’s event.
We asked Lindsay Brim, founder and Executive Director, a few questions to get to know a little more about how they contribute to our world and here are her answers.
(And here is one of the beautiful images we captured of her on day 2 of our event.)
(And since it was a Mother’s Day event, she brought her Mom!)
Does your business have a stated mission statement, the reason that this business exists?
Our Mission is to promote personal growth, hope, and healing through horses.
How has the business evolved over time?
Our organization began in 2015 and we started out with providing our Equine Assisted Learning program serving youth. As we began to grow, we created partnerships with Licensed Mental Health professionals and organizations in Central Florida that allowed us to focus on equine assisted mental health counseling. We are still a small organization, run by volunteers but we are proud to make a big impact in Central Florida. Last year our clients served grew by 75%.
What should a client expect when he/she comes to you?
Clients who walk through our gates become part of our “herd” immediately. We have a judgment free and nurturing environment that promotes healing. We respect our client’s privacy and they are able to participate in a form of mental health counseling or life skill work that takes them outside of their comfort zone. The farm is peaceful and the horses love their jobs!
What makes you so unique?
All of our team members, equine specialists and mental health professionals are certified in Equine Assisted work. Our founders have had horses for over 20 years and they consider their horses a gift to the community. The work we do is unlike any other mental health or life skill work in our area.
What are you most proud of with your business?
Upon completion of therapy, our clients fill out a survey. The incredible feedback we read from our clients about how our horses and teams have changed their lives gives us goosebumps every time. We know we are doing exactly what we were put on this Earth to do.
What community events do you support or sponsor?
We have hosted events for The Seminole County Sheriffs Office, BASE CAMP Children’s Cancer Foundation, Wounded Warrior Project and The Mission Continues.
We put on events for the entire family on the farm free of charge to participants to support the community.
Is there anything else I haven’t asked that’s important?
We serve Veterans who suffer from PTSD and their families as well as youth and women who have suffered trauma, abuse and neglect. All activities with the horses are done on the ground, there is no riding involved in our therapy program.
How do people get in contact with you?
Any future goals/events that you are excited about?
Our Summer fundraiser is coming up on August 5th at the Cork and Olive in Lake Mary!
We loved working with Lindsay and are honored to be able to contribute to the amazing work she has inspired in Orlando.
We hope for no one to have to experience the trauma that brings a person to this type of organization. However, it is good to know that they exist when needed.
